Daddy Bucks

Daddy Bucks: the form of currency used at our house. The kids earn Daddy Bucks by doing chores and good deeds. They can spend them on candy I have in the pantry, TV or computer time, etc. They're simple enough to make and since we have a copy machine at home they would be just as simple to conterfeit if a kid got desperate.

A couple of days ago, Andrew was in need of some daddy bucks. He wanted to play a video game. He came to me and asked, "Mom, how did you get the idea for Daddy Bucks?" and I said, "a magazine." Andrew went outside and thought about my answer. Unsatisfied, he came back for more info. I told him more specifically, "family fun." I wasn't sure what he was getting at but my brother, Bill, was watching and chuckling because Andrew was really thinking about it. Andrew was trying to figure out where Daddy Bucks come from. If he understood that, maybe he could get his hands on more without having to clean his room. Today, his mystery was solved when he saw the image of our Daddy Buck on the computer and said, "oh I see, you print them from the computer!"
